Van Cleef & Arpels store in Sanya marks new chapter in CDFG partnership

By Charlotte Turner |

On 1 August, French fine jeweller, Van Cleef & Arpels, opened a pop-up store in partnership with CDFG at the Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex.

The new pop-up from the Richemont group-owned jewellery brand will be open until 31 March, 2022, whilst CDFG also revealed that Van Cleef & Arpels will open its first duty free flagship store in Sanya at the end of this year.

Building strong relationships with renowned international luxury brands remains a priority for the retailer, which highlighted that it has already done so with more than 1,000 famous brands.

As has been reported, CDFG has seized the opportunity of the new offshore duty free policy implemented in Hainan, by rapidly expanding the duty free business there, adding pop-up stores from new categories, increasing the business area for offshore goods pickup, and carrying out extensive marketing activities.

‘SUSTAINABLE AND VIGOROUS DEVELOPMENT’ OF HAINAN MARKET

“With the continuous release of the advantages of offshore duty free policy, Sanya has become not only a holiday paradise in the eyes of domestic and foreign tourists, but also one of the duty free markets highly pursued by domestic and foreign consumers,” said CDFG.

The new pop-up from the Richemont group-owned jewellery brand will be open until 31 March, 2022, whilst CDFG also revealed that Van Cleef & Arpels will open its first duty free flagship store in Sanya at the end of this year.

“In the future, under the strong leadership of its parent company China Tourism Group, CDFG will continuously strengthen its communication with partners, synchronise the brands, varieties and prices of products with those of their origins, introduce more brands and limited products into the Chinese market, provide more preferential prices to meet the needs of Chinese consumers, and jointly promote the sustainable and vigorous development of the Hainan market through cooperation and innovation.”

CDFG said that the new pop-up marks a new chapter in its partnership with Van Cleef & Arpels.

“We have maintained a good cooperative relationship with Richemont Group, the parent company of Van Cleef & Arpels in the past,” said CDFG.

WATCHES AND WONDERS

“We conducted a series of promotion activities, including Watches & Wonders, which have contributed a lot to the development of the tourism market and offshore duty free business of Hainan.

“Since its establishment, Van Cleef & Arpels, with its exquisite craftsmanship and a series of classic designs, has been favoured by consumers all over the world. We look forward to establishing a closer relationship and deeper cooperation with Van Cleef & Arpels, so as to jointly provide better services and choices for consumers.”

The new Van Cleef & Arpels’ ‘Lucky Alhambra’ pop-up duty free store can be found at the rear of the Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex.

The iconic four-leaf clover design features heavily in the interior design of the store.

The ‘Lucky Alhambra’ theme is inspired by Jacques Arpels’ belief that ‘to be lucky, you must believe in luck’. Luck is a value that Van Cleef & Arpels has always cherished, and also one of the sources of its creative inspiration.

Created by Van Cleef & Arpels in 1968, the four-leaf clover-inspired Alhambra jewellery collection established itself as ‘a timeless symbol of luck’, according to the jewellery brand. “A celebration of the Maison’s creativity, its pure lines and distinctive beaded silhouette are brought to life with a broad palette of natural materials.

The iconic four-leaf clover design features heavily in the interior design of the store – including inside a butterfly totem – conceived by artists Burcu & Geoffrey, from France and Turkey, respectively.

Burcu & Geoffrey’s pop-up is the first commercial pop-up in China.

Besides the Alhambra four-leaf clover Lucky series, the store will showcase the Frivole series, Perlée series, and Two Butterfly series. In addition, the rare Poetic Complications series, Lady Arpels Pont des Amoureux watch, and a series of high-quality jewellery works will also be on display.
