A new World Duty Free retail space is set to arrive at Aberdeen International Airport (ABZ) next year, the airport has announced.
The new store, which will be accompanied by an enlarged and improved security area, forms part of the second stage transformation of the airport’s terminal.
Once complete, a third and final phase will focus on the realignment of the airside-landside boundary, an improved departure lounge and upgraded retail and catering facilities, all set to open in 2019.
FIRST PHASE COMPLETE
The news comes as ABZ opens its new domestic arrivals facility, concluding the first phase of its three-year terminal transformation project.
Paying tribute to the ‘milestone’ achievement, ABZ Managing Director Carol Benzie said: “The opening of our domestic arrivals baggage reclaim has followed on from our new Northern Lights Executive Lounge, which opened earlier this month, and our International Arrivals Facilities that opened to passengers in May.”
“These facilities demonstrate the high standard of our ongoing transformational works here AIA, and we hope that all of our passengers enjoy the much improved experience that the facilities bring when travelling through Aberdeen.”
In celebration of the facility’s opening, Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire radio station Original 106 offered listeners the chance to win prizes, including two return flight tickets to London with easyJet and £100/$130 worth of World Duty Free Vouchers.
