Accolade Da Luca prosecco is now number one UK TR seller

By Doug Newhouse |

DALUCA_PROSECCO topAccolade Wines’ Da Luca Prosecco is now the company’s  number one selling wine within UK travel retail, just two years after it was first launched into the channel in 2015.

The wine has since gained ‘a variety of listings, including World Duty Free’ and Accolade Wines’ Commercial Director Rupert Firbank believes it has been a driver in the overall success of the sparkling wine market in DF&TR.

Encouraged by this success, the company is now launching a Sparkling Rose to provide a slightly sweeter sparkling option for travellers and it is supporting this with a ‘large scale’ sampling campaign and ‘impactful feature walls’.

ACCOLADE REPORTS +225% SALES GROWTH

Accolade says this campaign has been operating in several UK airports and the launch has proved to be ‘a huge success’, with both the Da Luca Prosecco and Sparkling Rose varieties recording sales of +225% compared to the same period last year.

Commenting, Rupert Firbank, Commercial Director, Accolade Wines said: “The introduction of this new Da Luca Rose is a welcome addition to our portfolio. The original Da Luca has seen results that were far beyond our expectations, so we knew we had to expand the brand in some way.

“Sparkling Rose is extremely popular in the UK, but there is almost no availability in travel retail, so we saw a great opportunity in the market.

“The results we have recorded from the launch are outstanding and we are looking forward to seeing what the future holds for the Da Luca brand.”
