Aldeasa-WDF has opened a new 220sq m store in a new location between the two passenger access control areas in Bilbao Airport. Larger than the previous outlet, the operator says the store also carries the most important local Basque brands of food, beverages and souvenirs.
Aldeasa – present in Bilbao Airport since 1994 – says that the new store offers an ‘innovative design’, making it easier for customers to find their favourite products.
The retailer says that another innovation is the location between the two passenger access control areas, making entry to the terminal easily accessible to all travellers.
LOCAL SUPPLIERS HIGHLIGHTED
Various local suppliers are highlighted in the new space, including Axpe Sagardtegia beverages with sidra and txacolí wine, which recently received the Producto Eusko Label, a prestigious Basque quality designation.
There is also a wide range of food products, including Basque Izkiña cake, El Caserío candies; marmalades, honey, Laneko Koop tomato and pepper sauces, traditional pastries from Comercial Ulzuma and Aldanondo cheeses.
In addition, the range of souvenirs is extensive and includes Kukuxumusu t-shirts, figurines depicting typical Basque sports (aizkolari, harri jasorze and pelotari), and products with the Ikurriña (Basque flag) like ashtrays, mugs, etc.
SPAIN’S 13TH BUSIEST AIRPORT
Daniel Montero, Aldeasa’s Director of National Operations said: “We are happy to be able to support and promote Basque products. Travellers can take home authentic Basque products of the highest quality as souvenirs of their stay in Euskadi.”
In the first four months of 2011, Bilbao Airport was the 13th busiest airport in Spain handling 1,170,260 passengers, a 2.8% increase on the same period in 2010, according to State-owned Spanish airports operator, Aeropuertos Españoles y Navegación Aérea (AENA).
