Details of the new product and its planned roll-out were revealed during a recent tasting attended by TRBusiness and other trade media.

With only 100 bottles available in 2020 and the remaining 332 bottles to follow in 2021, the release is the highest aged reference in The Causeway Collection, which comprises cask finished single malt whiskeys from the Bushmills distillery.

This latest release, which is bottled at cask strength (48.4% ABV) and non chill-filtered is exclusive to The Irish Whiskey Collection at Dublin and Cork Airports. The recommended retail price is €700/$858 for 700ml.

AN ‘EXTRAORDINARY WHISKEY’

Ray Hernan, Chief Executive Officer, ARl, said: “The 30 Year Old New American Oak Cask is an extraordinary whiskey and we are delighted to give shoppers who pass through our Irish stores the opportunity to purchase this very special and rare release.

“Like Bushmills, we are passionate about and committed to innovation and offering travellers new, exclusive products they can only find in ARI stores.  We are confident the Causeway Collection 30 Year Old will become a much treasured whiskey within The Irish Whiskey Collection.”

The new Bushmills release is the highest aged reference in The Causeway Collection.

The 30 Year Old New American Oak Cask was first matured for 14 years in oloroso sherry butts and bourbon barrels. Bushmills has added deeper waves of flavour by finishing this single malt in new American oak casks for 16 years.

Paul Hunnisett, Global Head of Liquor, Tobacco and Confectionery, ARI added: “This exceptional launch has been exciting for all those involved and we are proud to add it to our coveted Irish Whiskey Collection.  This week, we held virtual tasting sessions with Bushmills master blender, Helen Mulholland, as a special treat for our whiskey ambassadors, but most importantly to ensure they are expertly equipped to understand the inspiration behind the collection and to give our customers every note and flavour in ultimate detail”.

Roy Summers, Head of Global Travel Retail, Proximo commented: “We are delighted to announce the launch of the 30 Year Old New American Oak Cask as a global travel retail exclusive at Dublin and Cork Airports.

“Releasing this special single malt into global travel retail is a testament to our commitment to the market and an example of how we are always looking to give travellers something special they can’t find anywhere else.”
