ARI prepares for Moscow bid

Aer Rianta International (ARI) will mount a strong bid for the new duty free contract at Moscow's Sheremetyevo International Airport Terminal 3 when it is tendered this month.
Sheremetyevo 3 is the new international terminal being built by Aeroflot which is due to open in late 2007 with a capacity for 5m passengers. It will house all of the Aeroflot business which will transfer from Sheremetyevo 2, along with the airline's SkyTeam Alliance partners, including Air France.
ARI Director General Eamon Foley told TREND: ‘That terminal is due to open in late 2007 and we expect that the invitation to tender will happen sometime in October of this month. That is one that we will certainly be targeting.’
This tender follows an earlier bid at Sheremetyevo 1 which the airport declared that Dufry had won and which Foley said ARI did not participate in, citing terms and conditions that were ‘just not economically viable from an operator?s point of view’.
He said: ‘The airport has since announced that Dufry were the winning bidder in that particular tender, but Dufry haven?t made an official announcement as of yet and I believe the agreement has yet to be signed.’
