Avolta has secured new contracts at Bulgaria’s Sofia International Airport (SOF) to expand its footprint by 830 sqm in total through retail and F&B, including introducing a new hybrid element.
The news marks Avolta’s entry into the F&B market in Sofia, with the company set to open three new dining concepts across more than 580 sqm.
Avolta will also be refurbishing its travel retail stores in Terminal 1, adding a hybrid element and increasing its retail footprint by more than 250 sqm.
“This expansion in Sofia marks a significant milestone for Avolta,” said Walter Seib, CEO North, Central and Eastern Europe, Avolta.
“By entering the Bulgarian F&B market and enhancing our retail offering, we’re growing our footprint and enriching the passenger journey.
“This is a proud moment for our local team and a meaningful step forward for Avolta in Southeast Europe, bringing Bulgaria’s local flavors into Vasil Levski Sofia Airport, creating spaces that feel rooted in culture.”
The expansion builds on Avolta’s already strong partnership with Sofia International Airport.
Over the past year, this has given rise to three new retail locations that have opened in Terminal 2, including a duty free store stretching almost 2,000 sqm.
“We are delighted to expand our partnership with Avolta as part of our ongoing transformation of Sofia’s airport, said Jesus Caballero, CEO of SOF Connect.
“The introduction of new, high-quality F&B concepts and the upgraded retail space bring a fresh, modern experience for our passengers combining global standards with local authenticity.
“This collaboration reflects our shared ambition to deliver a vibrant, customer-centric airport that truly represents the best of Bulgaria to the world.”
