Balenciaga store lands at Schiphol Lounge 2 with Lagardère Travel Retail
By Luke Barras-hill |
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Lagardère Travel Retail have introduced a first European airport store for luxury fashion house Balenciaga.
It is situated in the Lounge 2 shopping area for intercontinental travellers,
Shoppers will be able to peruse from the latest collections across women’s and men’s shoes, bags, accessories, eyewear and jewellery.
‘RAW ARCHITECTURE CONCEPT’
The iteration of the store draws on Balenciaga’s ‘Raw Architecture’ concept that produces an ‘unfinished’ or ‘in-progress’ aesthetic.
A concrete façade bearing a glowing Balenciaga logo is juxtaposed against rough, colourless surface patinas inspired by construction sites and gutted buildings.
Inside, concrete tiles adorn the floor in a textured assembly that resembles the look and feel of an outdoor sidewalk, while the walls are panelled with distressed concrete or covered with mottled, concrete-grey curtains.
A steel grid ceiling features industrial lighting, while aluminium shelves, display tables, worn leather seating and aged hanging bars merge for a technical, industrial look.
