Cook looks for bid recipe

German Travel company Thomas Cook has employed the services of Citigroup as its consultant for its $979m offer to take over the short-haul package holiday division of First Choice – including part of the latter

firm's airline.
MyTravel has already indicated its interest in acquiring First Choice's package holiday business following First Choice's management decision to concentrate on more lucrative long-haul holidays.
Cook has only recently emerged as a potential contender for First Choice after Karstadt Quelle acquired control of Thomas Cook with a $1bn (E.800m) takeover of the 50% held by Lufthansa just before Christmas.
