Dublin Airport handles an average of 81,270 passengers daily rising to 98,790 during the peak season.

Dublin Airport Authority (daa) has issued a request for information from prospective retailers to manage and operate fashion/jewellery/accessories and luggage outlets on a concession basis in Dublin Airport Terminal 1.

The contract is expected to be for five years and prospective concessionaires will be able to bid for more than one lot. Interested parties must have a proven track record in DF&TR.

Lot 1, is for premium men’s fashion (one unit), lot 2, for premium men’s and ladies’ fashion (one unit), lot 3, for jewellery (one unit), lot 4 for mid-range/premium accessories or sporting lifestyle fashion (one unit) and lot 5 for mid-range men’s and ladies’ fashion (one unit).

The existing four fashion/jewellery/accessories and luggage outlets are located airside within the Terminal One Extension Area. The total meterage space for the four outlets will be divided into five separate units.

According to tender documents seen by TRBusiness, the value of the contract is €250m ($306m).

EVALUATION CRITERIA

Outlet sizes will range from around 60sq m to 134sq m for the five lots. Exact meterage will be revealed at the request for tender stage.

Total sales (excluding VAT) for the four lots in 2017 were €1.66m – $2m (mid-range mens’s & ladies fashion – sales relate to around 196sq m of space), €1.1m – $1.3m (jewellery – around 71sq m), €952,000 (accessories – around 83sq m) and €566,000 (travel solutions/luggage – around 134sq m).

Evaluation criteria for the pre-qualification stage is based on a number of elements. These include the performance of candidates’ similar business enterprises, customer satisfaction levels in existing operations, details of staff training programmes and its proposed mobilisation/transition plan to ensure the stores open in December.

Candidates must return their pre-qualification submissions by the specified date and time in order to be evaluated on the aforementioned criteria.

It is then envisaged that between five and 12 of the highest ranked candidates will be issued with a Request for Tender containing additional more detailed and specific information. This will include the criteria on which the contract award will be based.
