DFS co-founder funds NI justice projects

Irish-American billionaire and co-founder of the Duty Free Shoppers group Chuck Feeney is set to match British government funding for community-based restorative justice projects in Northern Ireland ? right across the political spectrum.


It is the first time the UK government has teamed up with a charity to fund such projects, but Feeney has in the past 20 years privately donated close to $350m (?225m) through his Atlantic Philanthropies charity for other community work in Northern Ireland.

Feeney has instructed the trustees of his charitable foundation that they must spend his $4bn (?2.5bn) fortune on worthwhile causes by 2020.
