Dixons Travel reveals ‘quick turnaround’ after new opening
By Andrew Pentol |

It has been a busy period for electronics retailer Dixons Travel which recently signed a contract to operate its first cruise store.
Dixons Travel has opened its latest 100sq m store at Belfast International Airport last Friday (13 July).
Currently, Dixons Travel operates outlets in all major UK airports, along with two stores in Dublin Airport and two in Oslo Gardermoen. As first reported by TRBusiness, the retailer recently signed a 12-month P&O Cruises contract on its Ventura vessel following a successful six-month trial period.
TRBusiness also revealed it will roll-out its Heathrow Terminal 3 concept in Terminal 5 in September and open new stores at Frankfurt Airport (two airside outlets) and Düsseldorf Airport (three airside outlets) in the first quarter of the next calendar year.
Heidi Woodhouse, Managing Director Dixons Travel and Concessions at Dixons Carphone told TRBusiness: “This is the fastest store we have ever turned around.
QUICK TURNAROUND
“We have landed a Dixons Travel store in six weeks which is unheard of. We have had fantastic results over the last couple of days so are really pleased with what we have seen of it so far.”
The store is based around the aforementioned award-winning format launched in Heathrow T3 last year, “but does not have all the digital signage and that kind of thing, because it it would have been difficult to turn that around in six weeks.”
She added: “We will see how it goes and probably make amendments to the concept. It was important to get the store up and running very quickly as we knew it was a huge opportunity with summer peak and everything around this.”
