Edinburgh Gin is capitalising on the growth of the flavoured gin category, which ‘currently represents 40% of sales in the UK off trade,’ according to the company, with its new Strawberry & Pink Peppercorn flavoured gin available exclusively with Dufry.
Travellers can find the new expression in all of Dufry’s key World Duty Free stores in the UK, as well as its stores in other main airports across Europe.
“Dufry is the only customer in the world with whom we have developed an on-going programme of exclusive flavours, which illustrates the importance of our strategic partnership,” said Ian Macleod Distillers’ Global Travel Retail Director, William Ovens.
The new, super premium gin is hand-crafted using a blend of traditional gin botanicals, mixed with fresh notes of strawberry and balanced with sweet and spicy pink peppercorns.
It adds to Dufry’s existing Edinburgh Gin range, which comprises full-strength gins (Rhubarb & Ginger, Watermelon & Lime and Classic) and liqueurs (Rhubarb & Ginger, Raspberry and Elderflower).
“We are delighted to extend our partnership with Ian Macleod Distillers and Edinburgh Gin in Europe,” says Dufry Global Category Head of Liquor, David de Miguel.
“Edinburgh Gin Strawberry & Pink Peppercorn is a wonderful new flavour and the perfect addition to our portfolio.”
The flavoured gin category experienced a hike in popularity in 2010, when Edinburgh Gin first launched its Raspberry liqueur.
Four years later, the company debuted a Rhubarb & Ginger gin liqueur, which put Edinburgh Gin firmly on the radar for its creative approach to flavour.
More recent examples of taste combinations that have proven popular include the first Dufry exclusive flavour, Watermelon & Lime.
The company is adding new visitor experiences to its offering with the new Edinburgh Gin distillery and visitor centre set to open in the heart of Edinburgh in 2023.
