Liverpool extends and renews WDF contract by eight years

Liverpool AirportDufry CEO Julían Díaz confirmed today that Dufry/World Duty Free’s existing duty free contract at Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) has been extended for a further eight years and it will now extend its store area from 730sq m to 820sq m.

 

Dufry’s retail footprint currently consists of its main upper level departure lounge store plus an express store on the lower level.

 

The world’s leading duty free retailer says it will now refurbish its main duty free retail space ‘with an innovative design, showcasing the latest trends in travel retail’.

 

This will include a new layout and the additional of ‘several new brands across the main categories’ of Perfumes & Cosmetics, Wine & Spirits, Confectionery and others.

AIRPORT AUTHORITY ‘EXCITED’

Currently, Liverpool Airport handles nearly 3m departing passengers a year and serves the catchment area in the north west of England, where it claims to be the main gateway for leisure passengers flying to several European destinations in Spain, Ireland, France, Portugal and elsewhere.

 

Commenting on the new contract extension, Lucy O’Shaughnessy, LJLA Commercial Director said: “We are delighted to be entering a new contract with Dufry and are excited about the new store development.

 

 

“The new store will be the next step in further improving the retail offer and enhancing the customer’s experience here at Liverpool John Lennon Airport and will be the centre of the new development being completed this year.”
