France to see 2m Chinese

According to the official Chinese Xinhua News Agency , the French Tourism Office is forecasting that around 2m mainland Chinese tourists will visit France in 2020.
The prediction was made during a press conference organized by the French Tourism Office in tandem with the Printemps Haussmann department store.
According to the tourism office, the Chinese spend less on accommodation and food – about E.50 ($67.50) per day on average compared with E.130 ($175) for Americans and E.144 ($194) for Japanese – but they spend more on shopping, with the average spend panning out at approximately E.197 ($266) on average compared with E.80 ($108) for Americans and E.132 ($178) for Japanese.
Interestingly, Didier Lalance, Director General of Printemp department store said that Chinese tourists spend between E.9m to E.10m ($12m to $13m) per year in the store, out of the overall turnover of E.550m ($742m).
He also noted that the store's mainland Chinese customers are much younger than in the past, between the age of 30 and 40 on average, are more educated and have increased purchasing power.
He said that Chinese tourists spent around E.700 ($944) on average, about 58% of their overall budget.
