Frankfurt Airport Market Square opens

Frankfurt Airport owner Fraport has announced the opening of its new 1,000sq m market square in the public area of Terminal 2 between the check-in halls D and E, featuring 825sq m of retail and

200sq m of F&B.

Fraport says that Boss, Tommy Hilfiger, Pilgrim, Virgin, Sunglasses by Pfendt Airport Optic and the Metropolitan Pharmacy all opened on June 10 and the Three Frogs & A Crown, the gastronomy concept Le Pain Quotidien and a further accessories concept will follow by the end of October 2009.

It adds that the new market square is located next to the glass facade in T2 enabling lots of daylight into the Shopping Plaza and facilitating views of the city skyline and Taunus mountains. Fraport says that the parquet flooring and high-end stone facades 'increase the pleasant atmosphere'.

As for the brands, BOSS and Tommy Hilfiger are both presented by operator Gebr. Heinemann in a large 200sq m store with the focus on casual wear. BOSS will now also feature its kids’ collection. At the same time, Nemati GmbH, Frankfurt presents the Pilgrim jewellery brand in its first and only mono-brand store at a German airport over 35sq m. This offers an assortment of jewellery, watches and sunglasses.

In addition, the 215sq m Virgin Multimedia Store offers a wide assortment of best sellers in books and travel literature, plus 'a huge variety' in magazines, newspapers, merchandising articles and gift ideas. Fraport says that this concept combines 'very successfully' national and international press and books with music and multimedia highlights.
