Fraport appoints Newmark Retail

Fraport has appointed Newmark Retail as a commercial consultant

Newmark Retail has inked a deal with Frankfurt Airport operator Fraport to work on the development of new and existing marketplace spaces across the terminals.

One of the first projects will be the new Terminal 3 development, and the B Schengen marketplace.

Newmark Retail is aiming to create a “state-of-the-art” experience for visitors, as the airport builds up its capacity to 75 million passengers a year.

“It is an exciting time for Frankfurt Airport,” said Simon Black, Executive Managing Director and Head of Travel Retail for Newmark Retail.

“The airport has a global reputation as an international aviation hub and gateway to Germany, Europe and beyond.

“The investment in new infrastructure and marketplaces in the new Terminal 3 and B Schengen creates transformational opportunities for the airport and commercial partners alike.

“We look forward to working with our industry colleagues at Fraport to realise the full potential of these projects.”

Nina Kristin Gür, VP Retail Key Account Management at Fraport, added: “We have always valued our business relationship with the Newmark team, and we are delighted to embark on this journey to build our vision for Frankfurt Airport and our passengers, inspiring them through exclusivity and innovation across our marketplaces in retail and hospitality.”

Newmark Retail’s travel retail and airport consultancy team is the largest in the European industry.

Today it operates across the world, supporting landlords and retailers in developing their GTR businesses.

Earlier this year, Black shared Newmark’s vision for travel retail in a TRBusiness Short.

Fraport will shortly begin commercial tenders for the new Frankfurt Terminal 3 project. Set to open in 2026, Kristin Gür described the project as a “quantum leap” for the business, including its retail offer.

“We are busy finalising our commercial concept and preparing the tenders for our upcoming Terminal 3 project – scheduled to be open in 2026,” she commented.
