London Gatwick Airport (LGW) is offering retailers the opportunity to secure highly sought-after commercial space at the UK’s second busiest airport.
A total of 14 retail units including four island kiosks across a footprint exceeding 1,000sq m are up for grabs across the North and South Terminals, with trading set to commence in the first quarter of 2024.
The individual units span 42sq m – 197sq m in size, with the island kiosks ranging from 10sq m – 25sq m. The inline sites are available as either single opportunities or as part of a package across both terminals.
The deadline for bids is 09.00 on Monday, 16 October 2023.
The development twins with the £10 million-plus refurbishment of the North Terminal departure lounge – the largest overhaul since 2017 – due to complete in early 2024, resulting in a number of improvements to its shops, restaurants and leisure zones.
Timely move as route network grows
Rachel Bulford, Retail Director, Gatwick Airport said: “This is an amazing opportunity for retailers to secure high-profile, in-demand space at London Gatwick. The timing – coinciding with our North Terminal revamp and significant ongoing investment in other areas, as well as our growing long-haul network to markets such as China and the USA – makes this an enticing proposition.
“We are thrilled to embark on a retail tender of this magnitude. London Gatwick offers retailers a market of more than 40 million international passengers, with a unique ABC1 socio-economic profile, so this is a fantastic opportunity for brands to showcase their products to a sought-after global audience.

Gatwick Airport is investing more than £10 million to transform the North Terminal departure lounge, creating more space for passengers to shop, eat and relax.
“We have continued to evolve our proposition to ensure it stays relevant and exciting, using our team’s vast retail expertise alongside detailed passenger insight to carefully curate our retail offer. A number of much-loved brands have started trading at London Gatwick over the past few months with several due to open their doors before the end of the year.”
As reported, LGW handled 18.5 million passengers in the six months ending 30 June as retail revenues increased by 35% to £89.7m.
Net retail income per passenger stood at £4.77 for the six months to 30 June 2023, a slight increase on £4.74 in 2022.
