Heathrow revises full-year pax forecast in wake of October traffic boost
By Luke Barras-hill |

Heathrow Airport expects to handle 83.8 million passengers at the close of 2024, it has announced.
The uprated forecast, should it materialise, would represent a 2.9% increase on the previous record of 80.9m passengers handled in 2019.
The London hub says the revised figure would equate to an additional 7,300 daily passengers using its four terminals and two runways.
Heathrow CEO Thomas Woldbye stated: “This year has been all about breaking records at Heathrow. To keep up with growing demand and progress towards our vision of an extraordinary airport fit for the future we are investing more than £1 billion in 2024 alone.”
Heathrow welcomed 70.3 million passengers between Jan to October, a 6% year-on-year increase.
Half-term helps LHR to busiest October
Last month, the London hub handled 7,215 million passengers to net its busiest October on record and a sixth consecutive month where it has processed more than seven million passengers.
The result was spurred by the half-term school holiday period in late October.

North America and EU passenger markets accounted for the bulk of traffic in October.
“Being home to the world’s most connected airport is a huge boost for the UK economy thanks to Heathrow’s unrivalled links for passengers and cargo,” added Woldbye. “To maintain that competitive edge, the Government needs to recognise aviation’s vital role in enabling and supporting other sectors in its Industrial Strategy.”
