Hellenic Duty Free Shops hit $397m in 2006

Hellenic Duty Free Shops (HDFS) has reported a sales turnover increase of 14.8% from E.261.5m ($346.1m) in 2005 to E.300m ($397m) in 2006, with EBITDA increasing by 11.7% to E.64.8m ($85.7m) last year, compared with
E.58m ($76.6m) in 2005.
Earnings before tax and after minorities reached E.59.1m ($78.2m) last year compared with E.56.4m in 2005.
Commenting on the results, HDFS Managing Director Dimitris Koutsolioutsos said: ‘I feel very satisfied by the company's financial performance in 2006. These results came as a reward of our new strategy announced last May. We remain solid on our business plan, aiming at further strengthening the company's growth. I believe 2007 will be a significant year for the company.’
HDFS said its subsidiary company, Hellenic Distributions, also maintained its growth trend and the company said that since the beginning of August its financial results included a contribution from the acquired Links London Ltd.
Sales at Hellenic Distributors reached E.51.8m ($68.5m) and EBITDA totalled E.6.4m ($8.4m). Excluding the Links contribution, the respective figures for the division were E.24.9m and E.1.1m ($32.9 m and $1.4m).
Sales at the parent company HDFS amounted to E.251.8m ($333.1m) from E.245.7m ($325.1m) in 2005, while EBITDA advanced to E.58.5m ($77.4m) from E.56.2m ($74.3m) and net earnings after tax rose 13.6% to E.40.1m from E.37.9m ($53m from $50.1m).
