Dixons lives on in travel retail

The Dixons UK electrical chain of 190 stores is to be rebranded as Currys.digital with Dixons due to be converted into an online retailer. However, the brand will continue to trade in its present form in airport travel retail stores and in Ireland. Cut throat price competition in the UK from supermarket and internet rivals have led to the decision.

Bird flu arrives in the UK
A dead swan found in Scotland was yesterday confirmed as having the deadly H5N1 strain of bird flu and other birds are now being tested. This is the first recorded case in the UK and there are no cases of human infection. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health in Egypt has announced the country?s 11th case of human infection with the H5N1 avian virus and its third death. The case occurred in an 18-year-old girl from north of Cairo. She developed symptoms on March 29, was hospitalised on April 5, and sadly died yesterday.
