Lagardère Travel Retail Germany CEO Wiesel to leave at the end of 2019

Chief Executive Thomas Wiesel will stand down at the end of the year.

Lagardère Travel Retail has announced the Chief Executive of its Germany division (Deutschland GmbH) Thomas Wiesel will leave the company at the end of the year. 

Wiesel departs the firm by mutual agreement, a statement confirmed.

He joined in 2002 as CFO and was promoted to CEO three years later. During his tenure, he presided over a successful restructure and realignment of the Lagardère Travel Retail Germany business.

Beginning as a press and books retailer at airports and stations, the company has excelled into new growth areas such as travel essentials and foodservice concepts at transport hubs.

Dag Rasmussen, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Lagardère Travel Retail said: “We would like to expressly thank Thomas for his many years of successful and dedicated work for Lagardère Travel Retail and we wish him every success in his professional and personal life in the future.”

Wiesel added: “I would like to thank the Lagardère Travel Retail group and all my colleagues for the good cooperation, the trusting relationship and the very successful work over the past 17 years.”
