Lagardère Travel Retail has emerged victorious in a Europe-wide tender to operate four electronic shops under its ‘Tech2go’ fascia at Düsseldorf Airport.

Due to appear in the first half of 2022, the four stores span more than 260sq m in total and are being onboarded in collaboration with Lagardère Travel Retail Germany’s partner Schäfer Electronics.

Three will be based in the reserved zone (pier A, B, C), with another situated in the public mall area.

“We are very pleased to be going on a common path as an innovative partner with our know-how in the entire travel retail sector and see the upcoming new openings as the start of a jointly growing retail portfolio,” according to Jochen Halfmann, CEO Lagardère Travel Retail Germany.

Thomas Schnalke, Chairman of the Management Board at Dusseldorf Airport, added: “With Lagardère Travel Retail we have chosen a retail operator that offers our travellers a mixture of innovative products and customer-oriented services in a total of four stores. We look forward to a long-term partnership.”

The Tech2go concept was developed individually for the airport, says Lagardère Travel Retail, and features tools such as ad-hoc displays for advertising.

In addition, Lagardère is planning temporary promotions such as Formula 1 simulations and gaming consoles to increase the experience value for passengers and attractiveness of the stores.

Consumers to the shops will encounter an exclusive selection of brands and products matched by high standards of customer service and an immersive experience.

“Tech2go stands for an exclusive selection of brands and products, innovative shop design and excellent customer service, which immerse the guest in a world of experience to hear, touch and try out,” read a statement.

“The harmonious interplay of expertise and entertainment creates a customer-friendly and interactive enrichment for guests of all ages and almost every budget.”

The four stores at DUS will increase Tech2Go’s footprint to seven stores across Germany, where it boasts units at Hamburg Airport. A new opening is also due at Berlin Airport.
