Lindt teams up with Dufry at Heathrow for largest activation to date

Lindt has hosted its largest activation yet at Heathrow T4, with a major focus on gifting.

Zurich-headquartered luxury confectioner Lindt & Sprüngli Global Travel Retail has partnered with Dufry to host a month-long LINDOR Maître Chocolatier gifting activation at Heathrow Airport Terminal 4.

The activity was Lindt’s largest in travel retail to date, and generated high double-digit growth in sell-out over the promotional period.

Large gold ribbons in red and gold, along with large-scale video screens, created a strong brand identity, while the aroma from the live chocolate-making filled the store.

In combination, the brand says, the LINDOR theatre created a strong pull into the promotional space from the surrounding retail environment.

Once engaged, shoppers were invited to celebrate the Art of Gifting, with a range of personalisation options available for LINDOR Milk and Assorted tubes.

A live chocolatier meant the alluring smell of fresh chocolate drew customers in.

Gifting cards and wrap were available to transform purchases into ideal gifts for any occasion. Pre-prepared card messages included ‘happy birthday’, ‘best wishes’, ‘for you’ and ‘thought of you’, with the option to hand-write additional notes.

The gift activity was completed with a printed Lindt ribbon and branded carrier bag.

Year-round gifting

“This activation is a real statement of intent from Lindt,” said Peter Zehnder, Head of Lindt & Sprüngli Global Travel Retail.

“Gifting – the Delight pillar of our category vision – is a truly year-round opportunity, and a purchasing driver that resonates with a wide range of shoppers, particularly in an accessible category like chocolate.

“We’re delighted to showcase our creativity and gifting expertise with Dufry at one of Europe’s major hubs and look forward to partnering with them further to drive growth in gifting.”

Philippe Moryl, Global Category Head – Confectionery, Food, Souvenirs & Toys at Dufry, added: “We are delighted to partner with Lindt & Sprüngli Global Travel Retail to deliver a unique gifting experience.

Personalised gifting options were at the heart of the activity.

“We’re always looking for ways to enrich customers’ retail experience in our stores and especially at London Heathrow. This activation encompasses all ingredients to make our customers happier: high quality products, high service standards and personalisation opportunities.

“[It is a] great and successful combination that we have designed with a leading brand partner in the gifting segment.”

Earlier this year, Lindt partnered with Lagardère Travel Retail to bring a bunny-themed chocolate experience to Geneva Airport to coincide with the Easter weekend.
