Lloyd click-and-collect service arrives at Hamburg Airport T2

German premium shoes manufacturer Lloyd has opened a home delivery concept store at the security-controlled area of Hamburg Airport Terminal 2.
The branded unit has no stock storage and acts as a showroom for passengers to browse, receive advice from staff and order shoes, belts, bags and other leathergoods for delivery to their addresses via a mobile device or Lloyd iPad.
The pilot project will initially run for one year to assess its reception among customers.
There are also plans to launch a self-service kiosk in the future to complement ordering via mobile devices to provide added flexibility for customers.
‘NEW SHOPPING POSSIBILITIES’
Commenting on the opportunity, Lutz Deubel, Head of Center Management at Hamburg Airport said: “The Lloyd concept store opens up completely new shopping possibilities for our passengers.
“While they wait for their flight at the gate, they can now browse through the extensive range and find out about the latest fashion. Thanks to online ordering, they don’t lose flexibility once they have made their choice. They don’t have to carry any additional bags. And their newest purchases will be waiting for them when they get home.
“The concept is perfect for our airport. Implementing this store without a need for stock storage is a sensible move for both sides.”
Founded in 1888 in Bremen and headquartered in Sulingen since 1942, Lloyd boasts approximately 3,500 points of sale – more than half of which are in Germany – in 28 concept stores and 12 factory outlets.
In 2017, the firm’s consolidated revenue totalled €131m ($154m), with export sales to 52 countries accounting for 29% of that total.
