Independent distiller Loch Lomond Group has partnered with World Duty Free (WDF) to launch a single cask bottling that is available exclusively at the retailer’s UK stores.
Launching this month, just 256 bottles of the Single Cask 748 Loch Lomond 2009 edition are available to purchase from Avolta/WDF locations in London Heathrow, Edinburgh and Glasgow airports.
Bottled at 58.6% ABV, the single malt has been aged in a single refill American oak hogshead cask. On the nose, the whisky offers notes of pear, sweet vanilla cream, apricot and zesty lemon peel. On the palate, it combines candied ginger and toffee apple, building to a warm, oak spiced finish with orange juice. The RRSP is £95.99 (US$121).
Loch Lomond Group Managing Director Global Travel Retail Luke Maga commented: “We are delighted to partner with World Duty Free to offer this exclusive Loch Lomond single cask bottling at three of the UK’s top airports.
“Exclusive formats like this resonate strongly with travel retail consumers who seek unique, collectible whiskies and single cask bottlings are always popular with whisky connoisseurs, so we are confident this edition will be a hit with travellers looking for something special during the festive period.”
