London Stansted Airport welcomes 6,000sq ft WHSmith and InMotion shop

Travellers to London Stansted Airport can now shop for travel accessories and electronics across an expansive footprint at a new combined WHSmith and InMotion store.

As reported, the news, books and convenience retailer won a contract to operate technology stores across the UK’s airports, including at Heathrow, following the withdrawal of Dixons Travel.

A bespoke wrap-around LED fascia and instore digital signage for customer wayfinding is part WHSmith’s latest store design.

Once inside, visitors can select from periodicals, travel items and a broad range of technology and accessories from InMotion.

Dubbed a ‘one-stop-shop’ for passengers, the combined WHSmith and InMotion concept store sells best-selling books, gifts, food & drinks and a wide range of technology and electrical accessories from premium brands, such as Apple, Bose and Samsung.

Andrew Harrison, Managing Director, WHSmith Travel commented: “We’re delighted to have opened our first flagship combined WHSmith and InMotion store at London Stansted Airport. This stunning new store offers the very best in travel retail, with a tailored one-stop-shop solution that will really enhance passengers’ journeys as they travel through the airport.

“We know that while it’s the destination that matters to our customers, it’s their journey that matters to us, and we’re proud to provide a superior customer experience in this store through our live product demonstrations to entertain the whole family ahead of their flight. We have received very positive feedback since the store opened and we look forward to welcoming more customers over the months ahead.”

Ben Green, Retail Director at Manchester Airports Group which operates Stansted Airport, said: “This fantastic new store and concept, combining the best of WHSmith and its travel essentials offer with the exciting new InMotion technology brand, will make airport shopping even easier for our passengers by bringing together an extensive range of products all under one roof.

“The enhanced offer is an excellent addition to London Stansted’s departure lounge, and one I’m confident will prove to be extremely popular with our passengers.

“We have enjoyed a long and successful partnership with WHSmith at the airport, and this innovative new store will take our relationship to another level. The opening is perfectly timed as travel restrictions ease and we welcome more passengers back to London Stansted, so we look forward to working together and providing the best possible experience for passengers before they take to the skies.”
