London Stansted unveils new brand identity as airport shapes future vision

London Stansted has unveiled a new brand identity.
London Stansted has unveiled a new brand identity, which takes its cue from the airport’s Lord Foster designed terminal, with the building’s distinctive roof structure reflected in the refreshed logo.
The update comes as the airport moves forward with plans to increase capacity and transform the airport experience.
The next phase will see the terminal extended to offer more space and places foe travellers to shop, dine and relax.
Furthermore, the new look-and-feel follows the recent submission of a planning application to increase the airport’s annual passenger limit up to 51 million over the next 20 years.
“London Stansted has been on a successful upward trajectory for several years now as we welcome more passengers than ever before and kick off ambitious plans to transform the airport experience and connect even more people to more destinations,” said Gareth Powell, Managing Director, London Stansted.
“So now is the perfect time to reflect that excitement with a fresh new brand as we head into the next generation of air travel.
“We have an iconic terminal that is recognisable around the world, and our new brand and logo respects the heritage of the building’s design while looking to the future and a new era of more choice and opportunity as the convenient and efficient gateway of choice for London and the East of England.
“The next phase of Stansted’s growth will see us transform the terminal, creating a bright spacious environment that retains its natural light and airy look and feel, while adding more seating areas plus new shops, bars and restaurants to give travellers even more choice than they have today.
“We have an exciting and ambitious vision for London Stansted and how we best serve our region. Making the best use of our existing runway over the next 20 years will unlock even more possibilities, creating better passenger facilities and provide more seats to an even greater choice of destinations.
“This is the start of a new era for London Stansted and what better way to celebrate modernising our airport than by launching our refreshed brand as we head towards a very bright future.”

The new brand identity will be rolled out in the coming weeks and will feature on staff uniforms, social media channels, the Stansted website and all public facing materials.
London Stansted is set to celebrate a number of key landmarks this year, including passing the 30 million passenger a year milestone.
Indeed, the airport welcomed a record breaking 2.74 million passengers in May (an 0.8% uplift on the same month last year).
The number of passengers flying through Stansted in the 12 months prior grew to 29.97 million, an increase of 4.0% on the previous year.
Currently, its route network serves around 200 destinations.
In the sustainability realm, the airport has begun enabling work for its on-site solar farm.
