Malev finally sold off to consortium

By Administrator |

A Hungarian consortium called Airbridge which includes the Russian airline KrasAir, has bought the government's 99.95% stake in Malev for a bargain basement Ft.200m ($1m).

But the bad news is that the consortium must also clear some of Malev?s Ft.32bn ($167m) debt mountain.KrasAir is Russia's fifth largest airline which is 51% owned by the Kremlin.
The sale comes after more than three years? efforts by the government to find a buyer and the consortium says it hopes to restore the 29-aircraft national carrier to profitability within two years.
