MD dies in freak accident

Richard Heard, 49, the Managing Director of Birmingham International Airport (BIA) was tragically killed in a freak road accident yesterday after a tree branch was blown through his car windscreen during 80mph gusting winds.

Heard was on his way to work at the airport when the accident happened in Shropshire.
In a statement yesterday Birmingham Airport said: ‘It is with the deepest regret that Birmingham International Airport advises you that Richard died this morning in a car accident on his way to work. Richard was a wonderful person, who brought us strong leadership with a human touch. Our immediate thoughts are with Richard?s family, at this sad and difficult time.’
