Munz debuts interactive Airport Playground at Geneva
By Naomi Chadderton |
Swiss chocolate brand Munz has transformed traditional confectionery retail into an interactive experience with the launch of the first-ever Munz Airport Playground at Geneva Airport, in partnership with Lagardère Travel Retail.
Unveiled on 20 February, the activation reimagines airport dwell time as an opportunity for movement, play and engagement, blending family entertainment with premium Swiss chocolate in a multi-zone concept designed to energise passengers before take-off.
At the heart of the installation sits the Munz Sportsline Zone, featuring a basketball court that encourages travellers to “move before you board”. Passengers are invited to shoot hoops and take a short physical break ahead of their flight – a wellbeing-led approach that taps into growing consumer interest in balance and activity, even while travelling.
For families, the Munz Pingu Family Zone introduces a winter-themed environment inspired by the Munz Kids universe. Surrounded by the full Munz Kids line – including playful characters such as the Ladybird, Unicorn and Dragon – the space combines colourful merchandising with seasonal chocolate creations aimed at creating shared moments for parents and children.
A dedicated Munz Photo Corner adds a further experiential layer, offering passengers an opportunity to capture personalised snapshots against a branded backdrop, extending the activation’s visibility beyond the store through social sharing.
Meanwhile, the Munz Tourist Corner focuses on Swiss chocolate heritage, presenting a curated assortment of travel-friendly specialities and exclusive products designed as gourmet souvenirs. The space reinforces Munz’s positioning around craftsmanship and local provenance within a high-traffic international gateway.
The activation also spotlights Avelines, the Geneva-based premium praline brand, through a dedicated area showcasing its travel retail range. Highlights include the elegant Amandes Princesses and the recently launched Avelines Café Croquant, which has quickly emerged as a strong seller. The inclusion of Avelines adds a locally rooted, premium dimension to the broader experiential concept.
By combining sport, entertainment, gifting and indulgence within one cohesive space, Munz and Lagardère Travel Retail are signalling a broader shift in confectionery retail towards interactive, multi-sensory engagement. Set against the backdrop of Geneva Airport’s mountain views and airfield panorama, the Munz Airport Playground positions chocolate not only as a purchase, but as part of the pre-flight experience itself.
