Passenger numbers jumped by 10.5% between January to April at MUC.

Passengers to Munich Airport (MUC) Terminal 2 can now begin to enjoy a revamped news and convenience offer from retail subsidiary Eurotrade.

Existing Cee’u, Checkout and Newspoint locations are currently undergoing a makeover to be replaced with the new ‘MyCorner’ concept branding.

The first store rolled out last month (27 May) as a pilot, with other locations set to be gradually refurbished in due course.

MUC says the ‘spatial and functional’ zones represent ‘a fresh departure in store design’.

DEFINED SHOPPING ZONES

The interior of MyCorner provides clear sightlines for consumers to shop and pay for their purchases.

It is split into different zones: magazines and newspapers, books, souvenirs, food, convenience items and travel goods.

Multiple entrances and exits coax passengers into the stores, which employ a Bavarian-themed colour palette and imagery highlighted by distressed wood, leather elements and light fabrics.

Clearly partitioned product categories are flanked by cosy elements of wood, leather and light fabrics to emphasise the airport’s position as Bavaria’s gateway to the world.

Sven Zahn, Managing Director, Eurotrade said: “With MyCorner, we are meeting the basic needs of passengers from all over the world by offering them international products and key travel articles and making it quick and easy for them to make their purchases with an optimised store layout concept.

“At the same time, the cozy Bavarian decor creates a sense of connectedness to Munich’s culture and lifestyle, making the stop an inviting spot to take a moment to shop and explore. Those who just come to the airport and board their flights are missing the best part.”

Philipp Ahrens, Director of Center Management at MUC added: “With the new store concept, Munich Airport is adapting to the increasing expectations of demanding customers. This will further enhance the airport shopping experience.”
