Nigel Keal will lead ETRC for a further year after being unanimously re-elected as President on 5 July.

The European Travel Retail Confederation (ETRC) has today (5 July) unanimously re-elected Nigel Keal as its President for a one-year term.

ETRC members gathered in Paris for the trade association’s Annual General Meeting, which confirmed the appointment of Keal at the same time as offering updates on the ETRC’s lobbying activities and projects.

Keal, who last week was named as UK Travel Retail Forum Chair, has been re-elected as ETRC President on a consecutive basis after earning the nod in June last year.

He previously served as President from June 2019 to January 2022, before stepping down for a short period.

His service on the Supervisory Board of ETRC dates to 2010 and he has been on the Managing Board since 2017.

Navigating uncertain times

Keal said: “After steering the association through turbulent waters over the past couple of years, I am excited and looking forward to develop ETRC further as the industry is returning back to growth. I would like to thank the Managing and Supervisory Boards, and corporate members of ETRC for their trust and support.”

In a statement, ETRC says that core issues on its radar include the campaign for tax and duty free shopping on arrival, digital labelling, product regulatory issues and sustainability.

It also points to the possible expansion of the popular ETRC Business Performance Index to other travel retail channels.

Elsewhere, the ETRC has been focusing on the revamp its communications, beginning with the launch of a new logo earlier this year.

A brand-new website is due to be unveiled in the coming weeks.

The Managing Board of ETRC comprises: Nigel Keal, President; Donatienne de Fontaines-Guillaume, Vice President Brands; Piret Mürk-Dubout, Vice President Maritime Affairs; and Nina Semprecht, Vice President Communications and Public Affairs.
