Pietro Ferrero dies in Africa

By Doug Newhouse |

The Business regrets to report confirmation from the Ferrero Group that its joint Ceo Pietro Ferrero died yesterday while riding a bicycle in South Africa – although it is not clear whether another vehicle was involved, he fell, or he suddenly became ill.

Pietro Ferrero shared the Ceo role with his brother at the privately-owned company, which was started by his grandfather in 1942 in Alba, where it continues to be based.

Pietro Ferrero was just 48 years old and married with three children.
