Frankfurt Airport operator Fraport has announced a 6.6% rise in 2006 profits, driven in part by its healthy airport retail business.

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) grew to E.578.4m ($758.4m) while full-year sales rose 2.6% to E.2.144bn ($2.81bn).
Fraport said Frankfurt passenger numbers should rise by more than 1% this year.
In the fourth quarter, EBITDA fell to E.91.5m ($120m) from E.103.7m ($135.9m) a year earlier. Sales fell slightly to E.524.3m ($687.3m).
Retail revenue per passenger rose to E.2.56 in 2006 from E.2.26 in the previous year, while full-year traffic at Frankfurt Airport increased by just 1.1% to 52.82m passengers in 2006.
