Royal Capi-Lux taps into contactless trend with introduction of Apple Pay

By Charlotte Turner |

Capi-Apple-Pay-Netherlands-June-2019-leadElectronics retailer Royal Capi-Lux will now offer Apple Pay in its stores in a bid to make transactions more convenient and more secure.

Apple Pay is now an official payment method at Capi stores in the Netherlands and is available for all customers from the ING Bank.

“Recent research shows an increased adoption and usage of contactless technology, especially in the Netherlands,” says Capi. “As Capi strives for ultimate customer convenience, this also includes being able to offer different types of fast and secure payment methods.”

When customers use a credit or debit card with Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device, says Capi, nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the Secure Element on the device. Each transaction is authorized with a one-time unique dynamic security code.

Peter Wiggers, Managing Director Capi-Lux: “We are happy to offer our customers the convenience of Apple Pay as one of the first retailers in the Netherlands.

“We notice that contactless payment is a popular payment method, since contactless transactions increased extremely in such a short period of time. Our customers can now choose a speedy, safe and convenient payment method such as Apple Pay in our stores in the Netherlands. ”
