Travellers to Lyon–Saint Exupéry Airport Terminal 1 will soon be able to benefit from shop & collect retailing under a tranche of new services designed to improve the passenger experience.

Set to arrive at Terminal 1 next September, the facility allows customers to purchase duty free products during their trips – irrespective of their weight or format – for collection from a dedicated locker in the baggage delivery room on arrival.

Once purchases are made, customers will receive an SMS text message containing a code to access the locker.

Operator Aéroports de Lyon first launched the service at Terminal 2 in March last year.

MORE CHOICE

As the summer travel season begins in earnest, Lyon–Saint Exupéry is embarking on a series of projects designed to smooth the passenger journey and improve customer services.

A new chatbot function enriched with fresh features is being designed to assist travellers with real-time queries, including flights and trip organisation.

Lyon–Saint Exupéry says it was the first French airport to introduce a chatbot service last year via its Facebook messenger service.

Further improvements cover a one-click rent-a-car service via mobile, an automated parking system and a virtual queuing service for border control.

Lyon–Saint Exupéry hit 10m passengers in 2017 and delivered a significant expansion at its new €215m ($251m) Terminal 1.

Inaugurated in October, it is undergoing a phased process of works, the majority of which expect to complete this summer.
