Snow disrupts UK airports
By Administrator |
Gatwick Airport experienced 438 flight cancellations due to adverse weather yesterday, with the runway temporarily closed for snow clearance and leading airline easyJet has cancelled nearly 70 flights today – with most of them at
Gatwick, while British Airways has also cancelled several flights at both Heathrow and Gatwick.
The runway at Gatwick Airport was reopened last night, but short-term weather forecasts are predicting that the adverse freezing weather conditions are likely to continue for at least another week during which more cancellations seem highly likely.
According to various reports, all major UK airports are now said to be operating normally, but airlines are warning to expect delays as they try to catch up with the backlog of cancellations.
