Tallink Grupp has launched a new Tallink Ekspress web-shop following the delayed opening of the new Ekspress Shop in the waiting pavilion of the city’s Balti Jaam train station.
The delayed opening of the Ekspress shop, which will eventually offer food and beverage and convenience goods is due to the Estonian government declaring a state of emergency amid the Covid-19 crisis.
A new Burger King fast food restaurant was also due to open in the station’s pavilion, but will begin trading at a later date.
In the meantime, shoppers can purchase a range of consumer goods via the Tallink Ekspress web-shop, effective (20 April). The offer currently revolves around food and beverage, but the assortment is being expanded daily.
Purchases made via the Tallink Ekspress web-shop can be collected contact-free from a pick-up centre in the city (19 Uus-Sadama St).
HOME-DELIVERY OPPORTUNITY
Tallinners and Viimsi county dwellers can have purchases delivered at home, using the Tallink Takso home-delivery taxi service at a cost of €4.90 ($5.30). Orders places before 18:00 will be delivered the same day.
Katre Kõvask, Head of Onshore Retail, Tallink Grupp said: “Even though we plan to open the Tallink Ekspress shop in the Balti Jaam waiting pavilion building when restrictions allow, the swiftly changed shopping habits of customers and steep growth in internet shopping, have presented us with the opportunity to open the Tallink Ekspress store as a web-shop.”
She added: “Everyone has a chance to get their essential foodstuffs and beverages from the Tallink Ekspress web-shop and the Tallink Takso taxi company will take care of delivery in Tallinn and Viimsi county on the same day.
“We hope that this way, we can offer a solution for people’s most essential needs at the present moment – which is contactless purchases and delivery of foodstuffs.
“In addition, we hope that products which were a hit among customers in our onboard stores, will be well received and take their deserved place in the online shopping baskets of our Tallink Ekspress customers.”
Meanwhile, those seeking duty free purchases can continue ordering sweets, cosmetics, fashionwear, shoes and toys at the Tallink Duty Free web-shop (www.shopping.tallink.com).
