Ten-year contract for five duty free units up for grabs at Düsseldorf Airport

By Luke Barras-hill |

World Duty Free is the current duty free operator at Düsseldorf Airport.

Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) is seeking bids for the operation of four duty free shops covering 3,300sq m located in the security area of the terminals.

The contract concerns five duty free units and runs for a period of 10 years.

DUS aims to sign rental agreements with the new operator at the end of Q1 2022 ahead of the lease beginning in January 2023.

Enquiring parties should possess national and international experience in travel retail with the aim of offering a physical and online shopping presence.

An omni-channel approach is sought that considers the entire passenger journey, says DUS.

Flexibility is required in terms of product offerings and store design to react to changes in demand and customer trends.

Anja Dauser, Senior Vice President Commercial said:”What we wish for is a long- term and innovative collaboration with all of us seeing eye to eye. We expect excellent quality and attractive offers from our future operator, but also motivation on their part for walking down new avenues.

“A new concept was introduced with the current operator, and we would like to continue on that path with our new partner.”
