Thai shopper spending in the UK soars 43% in August, says Global Blue

International shoppers from Thailand and Qatar increased their tax free spend per head significantly in August this year, according to Global Blue.
Thai shoppers spent 43% more on average per transaction (£1,131) in August year-on-year, while shoppers from Qatar – the biggest spenders per transaction – increased their wallet room per head by 20% (£1,649).
Chinese shoppers remain the dominant force in UK tax free shopping, says Global Blue.
The nationality accounted for 26% of total sales instore between January and August this year and 31% of sales instore in August alone.
Tax refund specialist Global Blue operates in 52 countries and offers a range of services including intelligence-led insight, marketing and dynamic currency conversion.
