Whyte & Mackay whisky brand The Dalmore has partnered with Harding Retail and Cunard Line to offer an exclusive new service and rare whiskies on the Queen Mary 2 vessel, the world’s solitary ocean liner.

Several exclusive whisky experiences took place during the Cunard transatlantic crossing from Southampton to New York on Sunday 14 April. The 360-degree experience combined the bar, restaurant and retail space for the first time.

These included guided tastings from The Dalmore Principal Collection led by master distiller, Richard Paterson.

GUIDED TASTINGS

Rare Whisky Director of Whyte & Mackay, Gerry Tosh also hosted workshops outlining the origins of Scotch whisky through to modern day innovations. This was followed by further guided tastings.

The event included an exclusive tasting of two new vintage single malt whisky expressions from The Dalmore Constellation Collection. These were the 50-year-old Valour and 53-year-old Dominion. Both whiskies were available to purchase onboard through Harding Retail.

Guests purchasing The Dalmore bottles during the voyage also received a limited-edition miniature decanter, engraved with dates commemorating The Dalmore launch.

James Prescott, Harding Retail Managing Director said: “Calling on nearly 90 years’ experience, we’re delighted to bolster our long-standing trading relationship with Whyte & Mackay and Cunard with this innovative trinity partnership.

“Always matching the right cruise brands with the right products, the timing couldn’t be better as The Dalmore celebrate their impressive 180-year anniversary.

“Having curated this experience, we are looking forward to working with all of our travel cruise partners in the future on further innovative partnerships, surprising and delighting guests the world over.”

Richard Trimby, Whyte & Mackay Global Travel Retail Director added: “The cruise market is growing rapidly and Cunard guests very much fit the profile of consumers who will be interested in purchasing the rare whiskies of our super-premium brand, The Dalmore.

“Voyages are the perfect place for building brand awareness and offer a captive audience quite unlike any other retail channel. Working with our premier onboard retail partner Harding Retail on the ultimate retail experience, launching The Dalmore with the activation of the special events, was a great success.”
