The Macallan has unveiled Distil Your World Paris – the fifth edition in its Distil Your World series. Previous expressions have celebrated Hong Kong, Mexico, London and New York.

Distil Your World Paris is exclusively available in travel retail at The Macallan Boutique at London Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 until 27 March, after which it will roll out to The Macallan’s other airport boutiques and shop-in-shops. The RRP is US$4,750.

Described as a love letter to the elegance, sophistication and gastronomic artistry of the French capital, the limited-edition single malt draws on notes of buttered pastries, brioche, sweet fruits and gentle spices.

Edrington-owned The Macallan has once again partnered with the Roca brothers – who own El Celler de Can Roca, twice named the world’s best restaurant – to bring together the precision of whisky making with the artistry of haute cuisine.

The Macallan explores a deeper sense of place

Created by Master Whisky Maker Kirsteen Campbell, Distil Your World Paris was inspired by the French capital’s elegance and epicurean artistry, and celebrates the famous French l’art de la table.

Bottled at 47.2% ABV, on the nose the whisky offers notes of almond croissants, rose, nectarine, sandalwood and vanilla pods, giving way to a palate of buttered pastry, brioche, peach melba, mille-feuille and toasted oak. The finish features gentle spice and warm oak.

American sherry seasoned oak casks contribute a creamy sweetness and floral elegance, balanced with European sherry seasoned oak casks to add depth and structure. Ex-bourbon casks introduce tropical warmth and toasted notes. The addition of rare cognac casks – unique to this release – deliver a “final flourish of French refinement”.

The whisky’s natural colour, Parisian Sunrise, was inspired by the early morning light over Montmartre, said to cast a golden hue over the city. The whisky’s presentation box incorporates “street yellow” – a nod to Paris’s street lighting, and its reputation as the City of Light.

The design of the inner artwork, created in collaboration with Paris-based artist Cassandre Montoriol, features gouache illustrations depicting a lively table d’hôte scene on a quintessential Parisian street. The outer packaging design includes a map that traces Campbell’s journey through the city, with key locations elevated in sculptural detail.

The launch is being supported by a documentary film that follows Campbell and Joan Roca of El Celler de Can Roca on a sensorial journey through Paris, exploring the origins of modern dining and the rituals of l’art de la table.

The film documents the duo’s encounters with Parisian artisans, chefs and cultural custodians, including chef Anne-Sophie Pic, artisanal baker Apollonia Poilâne, and menu collector Jérôme Dumant.
