UK takes bird flu seriously

By Administrator |

The British Government is taking warnings about a bird flu pandemic very seriously, with the announcement yesterday that it is to stockpile 2m shots of a vaccine to fight any outbreak of the H5N1 strain

of bird flu.
The government says that it plans to use the drug to protect emergency and medical workers against any global outbreak of the virus. The news comes after Indonesian officials confirmed three human fatalities earlier this week amidst increasing concerns that the virus may have mutated to the point where it can now spread from human to human.
The World Health Organization (WHO) is continuing with its warning that a pandemic of the virus is ‘inevitable’, and says that attempts to contain the virus in Asia have not been successful.
