Unifree Duty Free ‘to re-examine Turkish travel retail beyond core category sales’
By Luke Barras-hill |
Unifree Duty Free’s Chief Commercial Officer Ian Foster says the Turkish operator will take a fresh look at the way it develops the business moving forward.
In a statement issued today confirming his official appointment in the role, which he assumed in June, Foster said: “We will re-evaluate the travel retail dynamics in Turkey beyond conventional duty free merchandising and continue to grow with the introduction of global brands.”
As the operator of Istanbul Airport’s 53,000sq m commercial footprint, Unifree Duty Free says it is ‘cementing its position in the market’ with the appointment of Foster, who has been enlisted to head up the airport’s entire retail business.
Prior to his appointment at Unifree Duty Free, Foster spent 10 years at Dufry in various positions including Global Head of Marketing, Global Commercial Head and Global Head of Retail Operations, responsible for retail activities at 370 airports across 63 countries. His experience also includes 14 successful years at LVMH.
