Vienna profits and traffic fall
By Administrator |
Vienna Airport operator Flughafen Wien has reported a 16% fall in first-quarter net profit to E.17.5m ($24.5m), blaming a sharp decline in traffic to emerging Europe.
Airport management said yesterday that revenue declined by 6% to E.121.4m ($169.2m) against a background of a 15% decline in passenger traffic for the first three months of 2009. Passenger numbers flying to emerging European countries fell by 18% percent, although traffic to the Middle East was more resilient.
The airport company says that it is now hoping to keep its traffic decline for the full year to 9% or below.
