World News up for awards

Alpha Airport Group owned airport retailer World News has been shortlisted in two categories at the first annual 'Bookseller Retail Awards'. World News is being considered for the General Retailer of the Year Award against
retail giants such as Tesco and Amazon. The winner will be the retailer that demonstrates the most compelling and original approach to selling books to a mass consumer base.
The second nomination is for the Harper Collins Award for Expanding the Market. World News will be competing against well-known book specialists, Borders, The Book People and Ottakars, and will again take on Amazon for the prize.
Ben Deller, Marketing Manager for World News which operates 31 stores throughout Britain's airports said; ‘It's really satisfying to see this kind of recognition for book retailers. The way in which retailers merchandise and promote books in store is an integral part of keeping the book business flourishing. Developing and understanding the customer base, then creating new reasons for them to buy significantly benefits the book trade, both in the short and long term.
‘Our nomination shows that World News can compete with the biggest book retailers in the market. To be placed in the same league as the likes of Tesco and Amazon is a great achievement, not only for World News, but for airport retailers in general.’
