Zurich traffic is up alongside passenger spend

Zurich Airport handled 1,721,563 passengers in April, a gain of 6.8% versus April 2006 and commercial sales turnover per departing passenger on the airside increased by 5.5%, while landside turnover per departing passenger decreased by

7.7%.
Year to date passenger growth stands at 10.1%, with transfer passengers up by 17.2% to 572,030 in April (YTD +22.5%). The transfer rate which was at 30.3% last April is currently at 33.3%. Passengers originating or departing from Zurich rose by 2.6% to 1,138,130 compared with the previous April (YTD +5.2%).
The current YTD low cost market share is at 8.0%, above last year's figure of 6.8%. Air traffic movements increased by 4.1% to 22,089 in April (YTD +3.0%). The monthly average passenger per movement figure (airline passengers only) currently is at 94.5 (90.1 previous year) or 88.3 YTD (79.9 previous year).
Total turnover (net sales to consumers) stood at Swf.35.6m ($29.1m) a 6.3% increase, which also translates into an overall turnover per departing pax of Swf.41.30/$33.86 (- 0.5%). While turnover per departing passenger on the airside increased by 5.5%, landside turnover per departing passenger decreased by 7.7%.
