Familia Torres appoints Kreol Travel Retail as India duty free distributor

Familia Torres has signed a deal with Kreol Group covering India GTR distribution

Spanish wine producer Familia Torres has named Kreol Travel Retail as its duty free distributor in a deal that covers several states in India.

While Torres has been available in the market since 1989, the new partnership will accelerate its business in Indian airports.

Demand for premium wine in the airport space has seen “unprecedented” growth, according to the brand.

Kreol Travel Retail has a strong distribution network supplying airports in the country.

“We are delighted to share the news that Kreol Travel Retail has been appointed as the travel retail distributor of Familia Torres Wines for select locations on the Indian subcontinent,” said Kreol Travel Retail CEO, Lal Arakulath.

“We have an experienced team with a deep understanding of the local markets and consumer preferences who will work with Familia Torres to tap into one of the fastest-growing wine markets in the world.”

Bruno Teixeira, Familia Torres GTR Director, added: “We are confident that this partnership will bring great value to our operators and further strengthen the Familia Torres Wines & Spirits position in the India travel retail channel.

“We look forward to working closely with Kreol Travel Retail to grow our business and share our passion for unique and exceptional brands with travellers in India.” 

Familia Torres was founded in Villafranca del Penedès in 1870. Today it is run by the fifth generation with a focus on making wines from historical estates while reducing carbon footprints.

It is also investing in recovering heritage grape varieties as a way of adapting to climate change. 

Familia Torres has a geographic footprint spanning Penedès, Conca de Barberà, Priorat, and Costers del Segre, Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Rueda, and Rías Baixas. It is also active in Chile and California.

The company is a member of Primum Familiae Vini, an association that represents 12 of the oldest win families in the world. It co-founded both the International Wineries for Climate Action and the Association of Regenerative Viticulture.

Earlier this uear, Kreol Travel Retail announced an exclusive travel retail distribution agreement with premium Mexican tequila brand Don Nacho Tequila.
