Indian airport awards stand
By Administrator |
A petition filed by Reliance Airport Developers against the Indian Government's decision to privatize Mumbai and Delhi airports has been dismissed.
As reported earlier, modernization contracts for the airports were awarded to two private groups and Reliance was not successful with its bid.
An attempt by the company to declare the whole process null and void was thrown out by a Delhi court late last week. The news was welcomed by the GMR group which won the Delhi contract in partnership with German airport operator Fraport and also by GVK Industries and Airports Company of South Africa which won the Mumbai contract.
Both airports handled nearly half the estimated 50m passengers who travelled by air in India last year.
